About
About the data
The Steamboat Classic was first run in Peoria, Illinois on August 3, 1974. Known as Illinois' toughest 15K and one of the world's fastest 4 Mile races, it has been held 52 times through 2026 — every year except 2020, when it was cancelled due to COVID-19. The race is timed by ShaZam Racing and benefits SC415.
This archive gathers champions, records, Hall of Fame inductees and more than 117,000 individual finishes from published results, statistics documents, timing exports and Athlinks public results. Each champion and result keeps a note of its source.
Caveats
- Full results exist for every edition from 1974 to 2026 (no race in 2020). 1984–1994 and the 1979 15K come from the race organizer's historical results database. The 1975 15K list is incomplete in every known source.
- Athlinks rows: places are Athlinks' published ranks, with one time per runner (gun vs chip is not stated for pre-chip years). All-caps names were title-cased.
- Hometowns, ages or sex are missing for many runners in some years. The notes on each year page say which.
- Division names and division places are shown as the source published them (division places mainly for 1974–2005).
- The official (gun) time is shown wherever a source gives both; chip/net time appears in the Chip column.
- Some places were computed from official times where the original listing had none; they are marked with an asterisk.
- Runners are matched by exact name — the same person may appear under different spellings, and different people may share a name.
- Where sources disagree about a champion, the discrepancy is noted on that champion.
